Back on the Ice!

Its been a little crazy lately! .. been studying in the mornings (still not enough.. hehe) then catching up with my fren in the afternoons.. usually house hunting.. followed by eating cheap food at Ikea!! Who would have thought some of the cheapest food in town is sold at a furniture shop!!

Been running Mitch to work most days so I can have the car just incase I decide to go somewhere. which has come in handy for the days with my fren.. hehe.. Today we didn't do any house hunting, but she came over and sponged my internet, then we went ice skating!!! its been two weeks since I've been to the rink! so it was great to get back down there! so much fun!! even tho my feet got blisters from the skates again, and I fell over a couple of times so my legs a bit cut up.. but nothing I haven't experienced before! haha.. Photos and videos coming soon!!! (they're on my friend's phone atm, so need to grab them off her first!) It was fun to go skating with someone else, (I usually go alone) but it was good, I could do my own thing, but then maen sama dia juga.. n bantuin dia.. giving some tips to make it easier and more fun! My blades were a little dull, so was a bit wobbly on the ice, they were sharp enough for most things, but definitely wouldn't want to jump on them! 

I can't wait for my skates to get here!! Still got another 4 1/2 weeks to wait! But today I also did a bit of shopping in preparation for their arrival.. I bought hard and soft blade guards (the gel ones are for walking off ice, the soft ones are used after skating to soak up any condensation after use so the blades don't rust) and I also got boot covers, to keep them in good condition =) So now all I need is the skates!!

 I wanted the blue ones like in the pic, but they weren't in stock! =( huhuhu.. so I got green ones.. Dama will be happy! haha =P and now I see online, it would have been cheaper for me to order them from America (even with the bad exchange rate!) and pay postage than it was for me to buy it here! Crazy! haha.. but what can ya do.. aku udah beli! hehe.. tapi tetep senang.. coz kan sekarang udah siap! Ready to get started! =D

Well, guess what!! ... What?? ... It's Saturday!!! =P hehe... and?? ... And today I not only ordered my Ice skates, but I also went to a soccer game with Mitch!! =D ... Adelaide United Vs Melbourne Victory.

It was a good game to watch! The atmosphere was great. On the way there, near the stadium there were people everywhere in like a parade down the street. A huge wave of blue, all screaming for melbourne. police surrounding them to make sure there was no trouble. we decided to go in the back entrance where it was quieter n there was like no queue to get in. Mitch got the tickets weeks ago, and the seats were awesome! In the top deck behind the sub benches! great seats! great view of the whole field, under cover (so no hot sun) and later in the night there was a breeze, which made things a little cooler.

As for the game, Adelaide didn't do too well in the beginning, but after half time they picked up their game, got stuck in, but it was too little too late, we ended up losing 2-0 .. Melbourne scored their second goal in the last 5 minutes. During the game the Melbourne supporters were going insane, they all had their shirts off swinging them around, jumping up and down, screaming at the top of their lungs! haha .. they were even letting off flares!!! so there was lights n smoke going everywhere when Melbourne scored. Insane, but great to see! haha.. the atmosphere was great. I love watching sport if I'm at the stadium.

During half time there were heaps of little kids playing mini games of soccer in each corner of the field and there was also some strange race with giant inflated tubes. (Wanted to post another photo.. but getting really frustrated with blogger right now!! haha.. so that might come later... if you're lucky)

After the game we went to the airport to see laurel off, she's moved to darwin for the next year, trying to get some experience before heading overseas.

Anyways.. i guess thats about it.. my blogging mood was killed by blogger! haha..

This happens every time I try to find out any information...

When I was in Bali years ago and wanted to find out about renting a motorbike... I catch a taxi to the shop, then I ask a bunch of questions, like how much per day? do i need a license? does it come with a full tank of fuel? etc etc... I had no intentions of renting it there that day. I had never even ridden a motorbike! but he said that was no problem and offered to teach me (and me being me, not knowing how to refuse, agreed) He took me to some near by paddock and i was told to drive around in circles a few times, in both directions, then he stopped me, and said "see, so you can drive already, right?" well.. i guess so... i mean, never driven on the road, with other bikes n cars going everywhere, but I guess I can steer the thing... 20 minutes later I was back at the store, signing a piece of paper with my name on it.. yep, thats right I ended up going home, not in a taxi, but driving myself, following a hand drawn map i got from the guy at the shop..

Ice Skating in jogja: One friday afternoon I was bored, all my friends were busy, so I thought I'd go n find out some info, when the lessens are, who would coach them, how much, etc... then they say "well, if you'd like you can start right now." so.. 10 minutes later, i had signed up for 5 weeks of lessons, handed over a wad of cash n was in my skates ready to start.

The same thing just happened now... I rang up to find out about how to order skates, because there is an online order form, but no where to put in all of the foot measurements, so i asked the best way to do it and he says I can do it over the phone! he started asking all these questions and before I knew I was answering them, and already had made an order!! 

He answered the few questions that I had, and that was it, now he's just waiting for me to fax through my foot measurements and in about 5 weeks time I'll have a new pair of custom made Sp-Teri boots with MK Professional blades =D (about half the price of MK Phantom, but should still be good enough to get me up to the higher freestyle levels .

So here I am, freaking out, cause i've just ordered my skates! And they're expensive!!! haha.. they'll be here in about 5 weeks!!! :D Cant wait!! Still doesn't feel real.

PS... I just realized... Even me going to Indonesia was like this!!! I was looking for info.. and before I knew it.. I had my flight booked!!! haha

Surprise Presents

I haven't updated my blog in a while... Spent my last days just trying to spend as much time as I could with everyone..

Im back... back in Australia, back in Adelaide... 

How does it feel?? Well.. the first few days weren't too bad, dad was still here and Mitch had holidays from work... but now, now I'm alone, no one at home.. and I don't know what to do. All I can think about it all the friends I've left and how I wish I was still with them.

I had christmas at mums house.. heaps of presents, it was good, but it didn't really feel like christmas. Aku jauh lebih senang natalanku di Jogja... di sana aku ga dapat kado, tapi itu jauh lebih berarti. It was good to see mum again tho, see her place n now things have changed and her new dog.

Over the last few days Dama has been asking me if I unpacked yet... and Now I know the reason.. Last night I was looking for my apple remote, so i went into my suitcase, n then I noticed a small pink bag... I had no idea what it was, so I knew I didn't put it there. I opened it and saw that it was a box and a letter from Dama... Reading it made me soooo happy and so so sooo sad at the same time... I wish I didn't have to leave.. I opened the box, in it was a photo frame with four photos.... from photo box... her and vando... in each photo they are holding up a sign "we" in the first "love" in the second "you" the third and "Bondan" the fourth. and all put together in a frame... I miss you guys soo much. it might not seem like much of a present to you Dama... but to me, it has sooooo much value. Yesterday was hard, being alone the entire day, my first day where I felt like "things are going back the way they used to be" I'm always thinking about you guys, and then I find this gift, that shows you guys also care.  I don't really know what I'm saying, or what I want to say... 

Well... I guess what I want to say is Thank You!! Thank you for everything, for being there and caring. You guys mean the world to me and its so hard  for me to be away from you.

MUM'S HEREEEE!!! and DAMA TOOOOO!!!

Well the title kinda says it all.. haha.. Mum's here!!! Well.. a few days ago. . got here on saturday, but we haven't done that much, cause I've still got exams. Me, Vando n Heru went n got her from the airport, then I took a taxi with mum back to my kos. Vando n Heru came over n chatted for a while n then went out for dinner at Pondok Cabe. After that mum was tired as, so dropped her home n I went out to Code with the others.

Sunday I spent studying, n then met up with mum at Amplaz, felt kinda bad leaving her there all day, but I needed to study for my exam. . seemed to go ok, so hopefully I passed. Then it was out to Muara Kapuas for dinner. always good and cheap. haha. . Cause Dama just got here, she spent the first few days in Saphir hotel, so we all (me, mum, vando) came back to her hotel to have a hot shower.. mum went first, then me. . . then finally Vando. I dont think he's ever had a hot shower before. . . when he came out he apologised for making the floor wet . . we were confused so went n had a look, and the entire bathroom was SOAKED!!! hahaha.. it was hilarious. we asked if he shut the shower curtain n he said "what for?" haha. lucu bangeeeeeetttt!! noranyaa.. hehe. .maaf ndo (not that you EVER read my blog!!!! hahahaha) he also made a new discovery of dental floss, and after each time using proceeded to sniff it, say it smelled, wash it, and then repeat the process over and over again with the same look of shock / amazement in his eyes. he also managed to steal the sewing kit (pronounced SOWING Vando!!) pokoknya dy lucu banget malam itu! haha.

Monday was my exam, then picked up my letters that I need to get out of the country, had a quick feed at PKL n then picked mum up at malioboro. . took her to Mirota Batik n then went for early dinner at Parsley. was gonna meet up with vando and the others, but it turned out that he had an exam the following day at 7:30am, so that didn't happen. Dama came to drop Mita off at Parsley so she could meet up with Andy, n mum wanted to ask her about Saphir. (I think she was having a hard time in my kos.. hehe) anyways.. asked the prices n stuff, n mum said it might be a nice treat to spend my last week in a hotel, hot water, tv, aircon etc etc. 

So, first thing tuesday (today) we went to the travel agent and booked into saphir, kinda nice to spend a few days with mum in a hotel, at least I think she might be happier here =) also think it will be fun to have vando and dama stay over after she leaves, we can go swimming n hang out n what not. anyways, I just dropped mum n dama off at the agent n went straight to immigration, should have gone about a week ago =S . . i went up to the 2nd floor n there was a security guy there, he saw the blue folder in my hands n asked if i was after an EPO (exit permit only) n then pointed me in the right direction. I got the office and stuck my head in. . there was a lady walking back from the bin. 

"MASUK!" (enter) she said

"Ibu Ros ya?" aku nanya

"DUDUK!" dy menggong-gong

I sat down, she threw her half eaten gorengan back onto her plate n demanded the folder. I surrendered it. she looked through it all, like she was repulsed to see another one of these ( i heard she was galak, but I had no idea. . ) I told her the date was one day wrong on the letters that I had gotten from UGM. 

"so when are you leaving?" she snappily asked me

"the 21st" I replied

"ok, so you can come back to get your passport on the 2oth! . . . Your passport ok?! the 20th!" she barked again as she stuffed the sheet of paper in my face.

I took it, said thank you and left.

I wanted to go to bali a few days before I had to go home, but I wasn't game enough to say anything. especially cause I was late in handing in all of the documents, I left only 6 days instead of 10. . So i called rocky to tell him the bad news, that I wouldn't be able to come to bali before the 20th. . He seemed disappointed, but yeah, there's nothing I can do about it now, its fixed... I guess I'll just have to see if i can get an early flight on the 20th, so i'll have a day and half with him n hopefully he doesn't have to work. . . although its a little disappointing, I'm still kinda happy, cause it means I'll have a few extra days with my mates here =)

ok, summing it up... after immigration we went to prambanan, I think mum enjoyed it, after that it started pouring with rain.. deres banget. . waited a while, it slowed down n we headed off. . went to amplaz for lunch. . did some shopping, then checked into the hotel. had some dinner, went n picked up mum's stuff n now here I am writing this!

tomorrow I gotta study again, so mum's gonna get a massage and maybe to to Borobudur. Then thursdays my final exam YAAAAYYYY!!!! but after that on friday she's already off to bali.. haha.. but hopefully we still  have a chance to hang out a bit before she leaves. . dunno if i'll have a chance to see her in bali. but yeah.. thats another blog. hehe

Natal / Christmas

Wasn't really sure what to do for christmas... so I stayed over Vando's place christmas eve. When I woke up I got a call from mum, so was wished Merry Christmas by everyone, Mum, Dad, Nathan, Mitchell n Patti. They all seemed like they were having a great time. Wish I could have been there, so I was a little sad, but at that stage I didn't know I was still gonna have a great day, even if I couldn't be with my family... It was my first christmas without them, so it didn't feel quite right, but I still had fun anyways.

At 11 we went to church, it was pretty good, Vando goes to a charismatic church, so it was pretty fun, up beat, has a live band, tv's around the place, so if you're too far from the stage you can still see whats going on.. haha. After that we planned to watch the ice skating Christmas show at IceLand, but we ended up finishing church at 1:30, so it was already finished when we went up to the rink. Stayed n watched for a bit before deciding to go to Amplaz.

We didn't really know what we were doing there.. haha.. just wondering around, anyways Asterix was on at 4 so we were gonna watch that with some of the others. . after they got back to us, turned out they were all busy. . with time to spare we wondered around for a bit, n then went to find something to eat. I shouted Vando at solaria, a fairly nice restaurant on the 3rd floor. Vando took a while to convince... I said I would shout him dinner, n he went to choose the cheapest place, n was gonna get mie ayam (Chicken noodles that you can buy off the side of the road for around 50c) ... took me about half an hour to convince him that I wanted something special, cause it was christmas, and that price didn't matter. (even tho the place we ate at was expensive, we had heaps of food, and for the same price, I wouldn't be able to go to a restaurant in australia alone! so its still lumayan cheep) but honestly, I didn't care... I didn't want to think about money, I just wanted to have fun, to have a great day with my best friend.

After solaria, it was already 4:15, so we missed the movie... instead we watched Madagascar2 at 6pm... I dunno what we did while waiting for the movie to start, haha, but time seemed to pass quickly anyways. Madagascar is awesome!! so funny! as good, if not better than the first, I wanna see it again!

Movie finished, we went to play pool, again, invited the others, but no one could make it. so just me n vando playing pool for a few hours, til a bencong came along, hosting some special christmas activity. Me n Vando were tied together, back to back, and we had to sink as many balls as possible in one minute, we only got three... but hey, thats not bad right??! I mean, our hands were tied together!! Vando was disappointed the bencong was only talking to me... cause I was "sooo cute!!! .. and only twenty" .. he spoke english, cause I told him i didn't speak indo... I wanted to play a prank on him, but it turned out his english wasn't too bad, so didn't really work.. haha. Vando is getting better at pool, or I'm getting worse, I dunno which... we used to be about the same.. but yesterday dy menang terus! ... (sorry for the random indo, some things just dont sound right in english anymore)

So it was a long day, but heaps of fun. My phone battery died halfway through the night, so sorry for not replying to all your christmas messages straight away.. thats what I get for not ever going home for the last week! haha

Pokoknya natalku menyenangkan, walaupun agak simple... aku senang.

Hore!!! Aku kemaren les ice skating.. it was for a full hour! insane... after the lesson I had two tests.

Alpha:

~Forward stroking

~Forward crossover (left & right)

~One foot snowplow stop

Beta:

~Backwards stroking

~Backwards crossover (left & right)

~T-stop (right & left)

its all basic stuff.. but cause I didn't know a few things about the test, i felt like I did really crap.. like, before you start the movement you must be in a  stopped position and assume the correct posture ( I started from a moving position =S ), each stroke needs to be held for three seconds, for all of the moves, and once you stop, you also need to hold the stop for three seconds. backwards crossover are required, not cross cuts... I knew this, but because in the lessons I'm always asked to do cross cuts, I couldn't do it so well. Also.. I wasn't aware that posture, hand position and arm position are marked, so I didn't pay any special attention to these in the test.

with all of this... I wasn't sure how I'd do.. but it turns out I passed both of them =D n the grades weren't too bad either... senangnyaaaa... hehe.. so now there are two more levels left... "Gamma" and "Delta" but with this being holiday season, and thus the small rink being sooooo crowded, leaving no room to actually practice, and having just three lessons left... Im not sure if I can do it.

fingers crossed... wish me luck.

on other thoughts... its not long til I come home now.. I really cant believe how fast its going!! ... I really dont wanna leave jogja.. but to keep me from being sad about it, I'm having as much fun as possible, and trying to think of all the good things back home.. I'll finally get to see all you guys again (well not all, but those of you in adelaide) I'm gonna see my family and friends!! I'll get to go ice skating on a rink about three times the size of the one here!! all the space and freedom!! cant wait. . I'll have to buy some skates first, but that means forking out almost $1000 for good ones!!! haha... a "tad" expensive... And I've learned the art of "Street-Street" here and now I want to apply it to my own town. I'm determined to live a different life when I get home. A better, more fun filled one!! So look out Adelaide!

But before that, I've still got a few weeks here to go insane!!
